After lunch at Saboten, we walked out way to Suntec City basement and we came across this Souffle Pancakes shop. I was aware of the buzz about souffle pancakes some time back but didn't have the chance to try them. Looking that the queue at Fluff Stack was short, I thought why not let's give it a shot!
We ordered the All-Time Classic and Black Forest options. Wait time to be served was acceptable and I witnessed the entire prep process of adding the bubbly pancake mix onto the grill and after 3-4 mins later, the lid opened and the fluffly and glistening souffle pancakes were ready for garnishing and serving!
When the plates were presented in front of us, it was so darn pretty with the vibrancy of colours and looked extremely tantalising! We had a few rounds of shots and started to dig in with our steel cutlery.
My first reaction was it was certainly fluffy and soft but it just didn't connect too much with me because the texture made me felt I was "eating air". The cream, butter and maple syrup certainly enhanced the overall taste. The black forest was very elaborately decorated with thinly sliced sheets of broken dark chocolate and the pancakes were draped with chocolate syrup, with the berries lining alongside the plate. The tangy taste of berries and bittersweet flavour of the dark chocolate was battling like a tug of war on my taste buds, which I absolutely enjoyed.
In summary, I can somewhat understand the hype of souffle pancakes. I wouldn't comment too much in the taste department but I still preferred the old school pancakes! Perhaps, these souffle pancakes were just too pretty to be missed and that would probably explain about the buzz around it~
