[EAT] Frieda German Restaurant at Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski (23 Jan 2021)

During our staycation at The Capitol Kempinski Singapore, dinner was at Frieda German Restaurant, Arcade @ The Capitol which was just adjacent to the hotel. It was about 7.30pm when we sat down at the dinner table because we had a heavy lunch at Saboten.

After we had ordered the dishes, the bread serving came first and it was dark rye bread! It came slightly warm, had a light tangy taste after chewing and paired very well with butter.

Subsequently the main dishes were served in quick fashion - Oven Roasted Pork Knuckle with Sauerkraut and Pretzel Dumplings; Platter of Grilled Sausages served with Sauerkraut, Mashed Potato, Pretzel Dumplings and Dijon Mustard; and Spatzle (pan-fried noodles).

To be honest, I really thought this restaurant's food were much better than the well-known Brotzeit. The pork knuckle was crackling throughout the dinner session with the meat all tender and succulent. Sausages were best tasting in recent months and the meat chunks were spurting juices in every chew and every bite. The highlight was the Spatzle as the charred parts of the noodles and the aromatic aftertaste of the sausage was a sublime partner with the meats. Iced water was complimentary and best paired with beer.

Highly recommended!
